Canine Services
We want our dogs to be as happy and healthy as they can be, but just like us they can suffer mobility problems like cruciate disease, hip dysplasia and arthritis. Physiotherapy will help following surgery or acute problems to return your dog to normal activities and protect them against re-injury. In the case of long term chronic conditions physio can be utilised to improve their quality of life through pain management and maintaining movement. For the more active, competition or working dog physiotherapy and exercise rehabilitation will improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.
Below is a summary of a standard 60-90 minute consultation.

Assessment
I will come to your home and watch your dog’s behaviour and movement, complete an assessment of their musculoskeletal structure, both visually and with palpation. My focus is to find areas of discomfort or restriction. We will talk about your dog’s normal behaviour and routine. Then I can formulate a plan with the information and look to manage any issues identified.

Treatment
While hands on, undertaking palpation, I will treat any issues with a variety massage techniques and stretches. If required I then utilse a toolkit of other treatment modalities including therapeutic ultrasound, laser therapy, pulsed electromagnetic field, kinesiology taping and TENs. Use of the additional treatments is based on clinical need of each dog.

Rehabilitation
Following treatment I will work with you to develop a rehab plan. This could be massage and gentle joint mobilisation, through to exercises you can complete on a walk or using things like poles, steps and wobble cushions. I take into account your time, and what your dog is comfortable with and every rehab plan is bespoke for you and your dog. We will also arrange when I should see your dog again.
